Volunteer with Your Symphony Tacoma
Lend a hand, hear great music, and meet some fantastic people.
It takes a lot of people to put on a concert, and volunteers help with many of the moments our audiences remember most. You don't need to read music or play an instrument. All you need is a few hours and a friendly face.
Ways to help
Will-Call at concerts. Greet concertgoers as they arrive and help them get their tickets. For many people, you'll be the first person they meet at the symphony.
Instrument Petting Zoos. Before some concerts, especially our Mini Maestros series for kids ages 3 to 8, children get to touch, hold, and try out real orchestra instruments. You'll help them get their hands on a violin or hold a trumpet for the first time. No playing experience needed. We'll show you everything you need to know.
Simply Symphonic. Each year, thousands of elementary students from across the South Sound come to the Pantages Theater for a concert with a full orchestra. For many of them, it's their first time hearing one. You'll help guide students to their seats so the music can start on time.
Community Events and Fundraisers. From the Beat Beethoven 5K to community events around town, there's always something to set up, hand out, or cheer on.
Poster Distribution. Help spread the word by putting up concert posters at coffee shops, libraries, and businesses in your neighborhood. You can do it on your own schedule, and it's a great fit if you can't make it to a concert shift.
Our Thank-You to You
Every volunteer receives two tickets to a Symphony Tacoma concert of their choice, plus some Symphony Tacoma swag. Bring a friend and hear the orchestra from the audience side.
Good to know
Shifts are usually about 2 hours, and we're flexible. Sign up for as much or as little as fits your schedule. Even one shift helps.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome. If you're under 16, please bring an adult to volunteer with you. Events that serve alcohol require volunteers to be 21 or older.
