Mini Maestros
Wild, Wacky World of Percussion
Sunday, March 7, 2027 - 2:30pm
Bang. Crash. Boom!
Shay Ryan, emcee
Symphony Tacoma Percussion Quartet
If it can be hit, shaken, or rattled — it's percussion, and kids can't get enough of it.
Join the Symphony Tacoma Percussion Quartet for a whirlwind tour of the noisiest family in the orchestra. From thundering drums to shimmering cymbals to instruments your kids have never seen before, this concert is pure fun for little ears and hands.
The program features favorites like the Pink Panther theme, the sounds and silliness of Dr. Seuss's Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?, and more.
A friendly heads-up: percussion is the loudest family in the orchestra, and we lean into it! If your little one is sensitive to big sounds, feel free to bring ear protection or grab a seat toward the back.
Arrive early! The instrument petting zoo opens at 1:30 pm, where kids can touch, hold, and try real instruments before the music begins.
About Mini Maestros
Mini Maestros is made for children ages 2–8 and the grown-ups who love them. Each concert spotlights a different family of orchestra instruments, with curriculum designed by early childhood learning experts.
Educator and emcee Shay Ryan guides the fun, introducing instruments and musical ideas while Symphony Tacoma musicians play. Expect singing, dancing, clapping — and a whole lot of learning along the way.
Concerts run about 45 minutes. Wiggling encouraged. Noise is welcome. Come and go as you need.
